Why are we so hurtful and broken?
Why must we pretend?
Why are we not simply loving and kind?
Why can we not bare our hearts and minds, without fear of chastisement or abuse?
Can we not agree, each of us is as despicable, ugly, and unlovable as the next?
Can we not agree that each of us is equally as worthy of love, compassion, and humanity?
Can we not become humble, vulnerable, and open minded?
Why are we unwilling to listen, so ready to vilify the other and treat them as less then ourselves?
Are humans too inherently terrible?
Does each of us not want to belong, to be welcomed in with open arms and loved for all of our flaws?
If we all agree to give everything away, to seek and express our true selves, and to join hand-in-hand, how much better would things be?
There would still be pain, still hunger, still mistakes, but would it not be less?
There would still be wolves among the sheep, but what do we lose when we don the wolf skin and start eating each other’s flesh in the name of protecting the lambs?
What do we gain when we twist ourselves into knots of anger and grief, and run around trying to force everyone else to be as miserable as us, maiming and trimming away what makes us unique?
What do we have to lose if we choose differently? Everything?
Is the Utopian ideal not something worth the cost our very lives?
If not, why have we sacrificed so much already?
Are we okay with the price we have paid so far, to get what we have right now in return?
